Aqara Smoke Detector is a self-contained photoelectric smoke detection alarm. When smoke is detected to reach the configured threshold value, the detector will release a sound and light alarm signal and send a notice to the Aqara App via the hub immediately. The smoke detector integrates effortlessly with major ecosystems through Matter support and supports local automations, ensuring your safety measures whether you can connect to the internet or not.

How does the Smoke Detector work?
The Smoke Detector uses the principle of smoke particles scattering the light. The higher the smoke concentration, the more obvious the light scattering, and the stronger the generated photocurrent, which will trigger the fire alarm.
Can the Smoke Detector work alone?
Yes, it can only perform local sound and light alarms when it is not connected to the hub; It can realize functions such as remote alarm and smart automation when connected to the ZigBee hub.
How to reset the Smoke Detector? When do I need to reset?
- Quickly press the mute/self-check button three times, and when you see the green light flashing three times, it indicates that the device has started to reset;
- If you want to connect the device to another hub, please reset the device.
What are the possible reasons for the failure to add a Smoke Detector?
- Operation error, please add the device again according to the instructions in the manual or the app;
- The device is too far away from the hub, and it is recommended not to exceed 20 meters. Please try again after the device is moved closer to the hub;
- There are too many blocks between the device and the hub, and it is recommended that no more than two walls. Please try again after the device is close to the hub;
- The current hub does not support adding this device. For more supported hub models, please contact customer service.
Why is the Smoke Detector offline?
Possible reasons:
- The accessory is too far away from the hub, please try to install the accessory closer to the hub.
- Low battery or dead battery. Please replace the battery.
- The accessory is installed on the metal surface and the signal is interfered. Please avoid metal surface.
What should I know when installing the Smoke Detector?
- It is only intended for indoor installation and use.
- It is not suitable for installation in areas such as kitchens that are prone to non-fire smoke and steam.
- It is not suitable for installation in bathrooms and areas that are prone to moisture.
- Keep a distance of 1.5 m or more between the detector and ventilators, air conditioners, or vents.
- Keep a distance of 0.5 m or more between the detector and walls or beams.
- There should not be any obstructions within a horizontal distance of 0.5 m around the detector.
- It should be installed horizontally. However, if it is really necessary to install it at an angle, the angle of inclination should be no more than 45 degrees.
- Do not install the detector in environments with temperatures below -10°C or above 55°C.
- It is recommended to install the detector with screws.
- When using the adhesive sticker to install the detector, the installation surface must be cleaned in advance to ensure that the surface the adhesive sticker is attached to, is smooth, flat, dry, and clean.
What may cause the Smoke Detector to trigger a false fire alarm?
- Cooking fumes or steam can trigger a false alarm.
- Humid weather that causes condensation can trigger a false alarm.
- The use of incense, electronic mosquito repellents, etc. can trigger a false alarm.
- Air freshener sprays or insecticides can trigger a false alarm.
- The accumulation of large amounts of dust on the inside of the detector can trigger a false alarm.
How to silence the Smoke Detector after a false alarm?
Press the mute/self-check button on the surface of the device, Or enter the APP and click the “Mute” button on the homepage of the device to stop the alarm sound.
How long will the alarm sound be stopped after the Smoke Detector is muted?
- When the sound is muted in the case of a fire alarm, the alarm sound will stop for about 80 seconds.
- When the sound is muted in case that the sensor is faulty or the battery is low, the alarm sound will stop for about 8 hours.
What type of battery does the Smoke Detector use, and how long does it last?
- The detector uses a CR17450 lithium manganese battery.
- The battery can be used for about 10 years under normal circumstances; however, it may slightly differ depending on the environment the detector is used in.
What do the flashing lights and beeps of the Smoke Detector mean?
- Low battery: The yellow light flashes once every 48s, and beeps once every 48 seconds;
- Failure: The yellow light flashes 3 times every 48s, and beeps 3 times every 48 seconds;
- Fire alarm: The red light flashes once every second, and beeps once every second, and there is a pause every three times;
- Associated alarm: The red light flashes once every 4 seconds, and beeps every 1 second, and there is a pause every three times;
- Normal monitoring: No lighting and no beeps.
